2006 SUMMER CAMPS GUIDE

Mary Help of Christians Camp
Mary Help of Christians Camp In its 57th year, the keyword at Mary Help of Christians is more! This year they’ve added more horses, more canoes, and even an extra week of camp. Nestled on 142 acres on the shores of East Lake, the program includes water skiing, archery, arts and crafts, horseback riding, swimming, boating and, well…more!

The six-week season begins June 19 and ends July 28 for ages 5-14. Camp runs Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. They will be open July 4th.

Tradition is a big part of the experience at Mary Help of Christians.  Weekly themes and contests are repeated annually to add to the excitement. Many kids come to camp because of the great stories they heard about activities their parents and grandparents enjoyed at MHC when they were kids. Almost all of the staff returns year after year, so kids always have a familiar face to greet them.

The camp is operated by the Salesians of St. John Bosco. With the guidance of the Salesian Priests, Brothers and Sisters, daily prayer and a weekly chapel service is an essential part of our program. Lunch and snacks are included in the camp fee.

Busch Gardens and SeaWorld Adventure Camps
For more than 25 years, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and SeaWorld Orlando have provided safe, fun and educational camp experiences for kids of all ages — all in the unique setting of a world-class adventure park. Some call our programs "hands-on," but we like to refer to them as “paws-on” or “fins-on,” depending on which program you choose.

Busch Gardens and SeaWorld offer a wide variety of educational programs for children of all ages:
Day Camps for preschool through eighth grade are full of exotic animal interactions, creative crafts and fun with
new friends.
Family Sleepovers for elementary school students and their families offer the unique opportunity to spend the night together while learning all about the animals that live in our parks.
Resident Camps for students going into the fourth grade through college offer campers the opportunity to live, work and play behind the scenes at our world-famous parks while making new friends and building life long memories.

Loving and learning about animals can never begin too early. For those not quite ready to stay overnight, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has a wide range of summer day camp programs. Campers learn tons of fun facts about wild creatures and the cool places they call home, plus participate in fun activities like making a pine cone treat for our fruit bats or feeding lorikeets and giraffes. There’s also time to splash down a slippery slide at Adventure Island, visit the new baby gorilla and challenge a world-class roller coaster. Day Camps run Monday through Friday and are full of age-appropriate activities and animal interactions.

For the true animal and theme park lover, Busch Gardens' resident camps provide an incredibly intense experience. Young Explorers and Zooventures programs focus on behind-the-scenes observations and interactions with exotic and endangered animals. For the adventure seeker, the new Xtreme Adventures Camp offers the thrill of SheiKra – America’s only dive coaster – and all of our record-breaking roller coasters, plus unforgettable animal encounters like swimming with the dolphins at Discovery Cove.

For the marine animal lover, SeaWorld offers campers up-close, hands-on animal interactions with dolphins, penguins, exotic birds, and sharks during five- or ten-day resident camps for students in fifth through twelfth grade.

Whichever adventure you chose, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and SeaWorld Orlando offer camps that promise excitement, adventure, new friends and all-around good times. SeaWorld/Busch Gardens Adventure Camps are accredited by the American Camp Association and offer a safe, fun environment for children to discover the world of amazing animals and conservation.
