Summer's Gone and Away

Well, I’m not sure about you Scenesters but it was a summer full of fun. From enjoying the beautiful beaches of Tampa Bay to taking a few vacations far and away, it has been a busy one. And of course Tampa Bay Metro hit all the great parties, and received the Red Carpet treatment, literally this month.

The stars came out for former Buccaneer
Ryan Nece’s Third Annual Night with the Stars. TPepin’s Hospitality Center was transformed into a chic lounge with #55 martinis and delectables from Mise en Place. Ryan’s father, Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott was on hand to celebrate along with many of Ryan’s former teammates including Arizona Cardinals’ Anthony Becht, New England Patriots’ Alex Smith, Buccaneer Earnest Graham and former Buccaneer Mike Alstott. The evening highlighted the “Power of Giving,” a program Ryan implemented recently through his charitable foundation. At the event in Tampa, VIP guests received a “Pay it Forward” bracelet and were reminded with 55 ways to give in the fortune cookie takeaway at the end of the evening. The program mirrors the Good Samaritan Scholarships the foundation awards annually for community-minded high school students. The evening raised over $35,000 for Ryan’s Power of Giving initiative. It seems that Orlando was receiving the red carpet treatment for a while but now it’s popping up in Tampa with a hip networking event called Red Carpet Monday, started in Orlando by founders
Ryan Deming and Ryan Totka. After a brief hiatus, Red Carpet is back, with an incredible event held at AquaKnox at the Westin Tampa Bay. The crowd of more than 250 guests enjoyed Ultimat Vodka cocktails and great bites all while overlooking the beautiful bay. Enjoying the view were Aakash Patel, Swathi Kanji, Howard Sachs, Shannon Oliveiro, Blake Casper, Michael Murphy, and Tampa Bay Buccaneer Stylez G. White. The next event is planned for October 19 at Mise en Place in Tampa. Log on to www.redcarpetmonday.com for details.

Michael Stewart, owner of 717 South is a friend to B Scene and a visionary for simple philanthropy. Looking for a way to increase Friday business, he started a guest bartending night with tips going to charity. Recently I got to shake, rattle and roll behind the bar with my partners in media, JP Peterson of CBS Radio 1010 and Charley Belcher of Fox 13. Monies raised from the evening have supported The Florida Aquarium, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Heartbeat International, the Tampa Theatre, Dress for Success, and more. Log on to 717 South’s Fan Page on Facebook to learn more about it.

Be sure to check out the hottest Halloween Party in Tampa, the Ceviche Vampire Lounge. Details at

Now get out there and B Scene!
