Quarles, Mr. Shelton Quarles…
Ring in the holidays with some Bling…
We all need a little sunkiss...

There was some great giving over the holiday season from Shelton Quarles, his celebrity friends and Aston Martins, to diamonds at David Alexander for Relay for Life, and to the Hyde Park Tan Lounge’s grand opening for a little bit of sun-kissed action.

James Bond these days stills sports an Aston Martin, so it was no surprise when my favorite former Vanderbilt Commodore and Tampa Bay Buccaneer chose
Aston Martin Jaguar of Tampa for his IMPACT Foundation’s 1st Annual Evening of Celebrity Guests, Exotic Cars and Culinary Treats.

Shelton Quarles was joined by nearly 250 guests including his wife
Damaris, dealership owner Rob Elder, the clan of Stephen, Krista, Jay, Kandall, Danny and Romina Diaco, and several members of the Buccaneers including Derrick Brooks, Ronde Barber, Jeff Garcia, Ryan Nece and Cato June – all anxious to see the exotic cars from the private collection of Don Wallace. The cars certainly did not disappoint as the collection included a one of a kind 1,001 horse power Bugatti Veyron, a Ferrari Enzo, a McLaren F1, Mercedes Benz CLK-GTR and a Ford GT. The guest of honor for the evening was Josephina Zepeda – the Foundation’s 2007 “Mother’s Day Miracles” recipient. The 2008 goal is to provide five additional single-mother families like Zepeda’s, support in owning their first home. Over $35,000 was raised for the 2008 program.

In his 10th year,
David Alexander Jewelers continued their tradition of holiday giving by hosting an annual open house. This year, proceeds from the evening’s sales benefited Relay for Life. Besides myself sparkling in over $100,000 worth of diamonds, the real highlight was 717 South’s Robert Masson’s amazing culinary delectables for the evening including the crabcakes. On hand looking dazzling were owner David Nguyen, Tracy Morgan, Jim Sorrells, Alicia Wyatt, Lada Grannoff, Andrew Lehrer and Ben Dachiapelli.

Though Florida has all the rays we need to stay bronzed, the
Hyde Park Tan Lounge on South Howard recently held its grand opening fete with quite a splash, making it the hottest (literally!) place to get a tan. Right in the heart of Soho, the Lounge is sure to be a hot spot. Sizzling were Debbie Blacheck, Laura Sansone, Gena O’Hara, Darlene Cassello, Domingo Quintero and Toni Acquaviva.
