A Lighter Culinary Touch
Shula's Steak House Tampa
at the InterContinental Hotel | By Ronda M. Parag
Steak lovers rejoice. If you haven’t been to Shula’s lately, or even at all, it is time to give it a try. Updated and remodeled several years ago, the décor at Shula’s offers a fresh, clean appeal from the dark, traditional interiors of a steak house. The sports memorabilia and photography offer an ode to founder, Coach Don Shula, and the menu offers only premium Black Angus Beef.
Located inside the InterContinental Hotel at the corner of Kennedy Blvd. and Westshore Blvd. in Tampa, Shula’s showcases its steak menu on a hand-painted authentic NFL game football. The menu offers a wide selection of delicious appetizers, steaks and seafood. Start the meal with the signature BBQ shrimp extra large shrimp, wrapped in bacon and topped with a sweet, tangy sauce or the calamari fries - strips of squid, lightly breaded resembling french fries. It is hard to choose just the right steak, but prior to ordering, view the Shula Cut steaks as the server describes each cut of beef.
The BBQ shrimp are dripping with a tangy sauce and are a house specialty at Shula’s Steak House
For those who dare, the 48-ounce Porterhouse is available and if eaten in its entirety offers membership into the 48-ounce Club now boasting over 26,000 members. Sides are ordered a la carte and are plenty generous for sharing. Try the Crab Mac & Cheese offering lumps of crab and macaroni in a tasty cheese sauce. Be sure to save room for dessert - the Molten Lava Chocolate is chocolate heaven.
