B Scene with Brooke Palmer
Man and Woman of the Year, Grand Opening Party and Celeb Sightings.

It seems that the stars are being spotted around Tampa these days, from Derek Jeter at Starbucks to Michael Jordan at 717 South, I suppose the Gulf Coast is starting to seem a bit more swank to those celebs that so often frequent the Miami Scene. There will be more celebs at the upcoming Outback Pro-Am that will be covered in the next issue. Before we get to celebrity sightings, we have to talk about the charity scene.

The 2010 Man and Woman of the Year campaign kicked off for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. As the 2008 winner, this cause is near and dear to my heart. This year’s candidates are sure to break records from Doug Hoppe of the Seminole Hard Rock, and Max Oligario of Sun Trust to Danicet Cura and Heidi Damon, on the women’s side. Tampa Bay Metro is proud to be a part of the LLS team. The kickoff to the 10 week campaign was held at Stumps Supper Club in Channelside. Susan Hausler, past winner was there along with candidate Erin Newton, and LLS team members Lynn Haag and Kaleen Weiser were joined by the 2010 Boy and Girl of the year, Joshua and Madison. Candidates will now fundraise until the Gala finale in May. For a complete list of candidates or how to help LLS, log on to mwoy.org/sun/.

One used to think the only thing in Wesley Chapel was Saddlebrook, but not any more. With the Shops at Wiregrass anchoring a development boom, the place is certainly happening. Recently, Prime Bar, a contemporary ale house concept with its roots in Chicago, held its grand opening party to benefit the Children’s Cancer Center. More than 300 people came out to support the cause with over $2,500 raised to benefit the kids. General Manager Erik Landers and Restaurants America president Roger Greenfield felt it was really important to partner with an organization that had a direct affect on the community. Director of Development Shannon Olivero was on hand along with many of the Center’s supporters including Allison Stokes, Jackie Johnson, Chris Trina and Tammy Sassin. Check out Prime Bar on Facebook at facebook.com/primebarwiregrasstampa.

And with good weather (FINALLY), comes great golf — the 2010 Outback Pro-Am is no exception. With an amazing field of celebrities and golfers returning to TPC, it’s becoming a premier stop on the Champions Tour. Michael J. Fox is scheduled to return again and this year. Fox will join George Lopez, Vince Gill, Stone Phillips, Vinny Testaverde, Joe Theismann, Derrick Brooks, and Rondé Barber on the links. Some A-List professional commitments include Brad Bryant, Bernhard Langer, Tom Watson, Fred Funk, Mark O’Meara, Hale Irwin and Loren Roberts. The 2010 Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am will take place on April 12-18 at TPC Tampa Bay in Lutz, FL. For tickets visit outbackproam.com.

And finally, back to being starstruck…B Scene did spot Tone Loc at Push and will.i.am at The Venue with pop group LMFAO.

B Scene is looking for you! Tell us about your events - we will cover them! Email us at bscene@tampabaymetro.com – put B Scene in the subject line.
