Bunny Hopping From One Spring Event To The Next
Hey scenesters! With Spring comes beautiful weather, and that means great events that encompass what Tampa Bay gives us the most SUNSHINE! Postcard Inn on the Beach is gearing up for their Summer Concert Series, and Metro got a sneak preview with Nic Cowan, who was recently signed to the Zac Brown Band’s new label. We also did what B Scene does best; SIP AND SHOP, at the Handbags and Happy Hour event for the Make -A-Wish Foundation. Lastly, we were honored to partake in an amazing event called Calendar for a Cause, which benefited the Children’s Cancer Center.
Postcard Inn on the Beach held the first of many beachfront concerts in a music filled weekend with Backline Music Group. The Artist Showcase featured headliner Nic Cowan and local favorite, Chris McCarty. Cowan has an upcoming album with songs penned by Zac Brown and Kid Rock. Three days of events included meet and greets, a poolside acoustic show and the Sunday Afternoon Beach Concert. General Manager of the Postcard Inn, Patrick Brophy, along with Misty Wells and Jillian Thompson, teamed up with Kevin Lilly and Jane McKee to create a fun filled atmosphere to benefit For the Children Tampa Bay. More concerts are scheduled with the next one tentatively being held May 21, with the Make- A-Wish Foundation Beach Stroll.
The Make -A-Wish Foundation also held the first of its kind, Handbags and Happy Hour at the Centre Club. Nearly 150 ladies received makeovers from Saks Fifth Avenue, shopped, and sipped themed cocktails all for a good cause. Several ladies were seen ogling the handbags, including Tiffany Yerrid, Jackie Toledo, Cheryl Adams, Ashley Lansdale, Karla Stevenson, Dawn Edwards, and co-chairs Elaine Sweeney and Wendy Garraty. B Scene scored a Burberry tote, all funds going to support a great cause.
When a group of committed event professionals put their heads together, it’s amazing what can transpire. The brainchild of event planner Georgia Watson, Calendar for a Cause was created to inspire event professionals to support charitable causes in the area. For the inaugural calendar, the Children’s Cancer Center was selected. Each month features a different child from the Center. To raise funds for the cause, an incredible cocktail party was held at the Don Cesar Beach Resort in St. Pete Beach. Many of the industry’s best teamed up to produce a memorable evening. They included: event chair, Georgia Watson, Brooke Palmer, Sarah Fairbairn, Ryan and Elena Joseph, Aaron Lockwood, Lovelynn Jensen, Alex and Jocelyn Karas, Ian Prosser, Frank Clemente, and Linny Correa. Over $15,000 was raised for the CCC and there are plans to do it again next year.
B Scene hopes you will support the Florida Aquarium and this year’s Seagrapes, May 7. I am honored to be co-chairing the event with Angela Ardolino. Metro will be there, so should you! Check it out at www.seagrapes.org.
Now get out there and B Scene!
