Fall is coming to a close!
Our event calendar is picking up! We hope you had a scary good time at all your fall events, because we did! We had a blast raising money for some great causes at the Eye Ball Gala, Halfway to Winefest, and Chill Under the Stars, Martini Shakedown.
This year the Lion’s Eye Institute Foundation for Transplant and Research celebrated its 5th annual Eye Ball Gala at Raymond James Stadium. The Buccaneers’ home was transformed into an elegant soiree with feasting tables covered in antique crowns and candelabras, a dance floor and lounge on the infamous ship, and an all electronic silent auction. Kelley Sims, and Gail Messamore were the masterminds behind the evening and worked hard to keep the evening’s purpose of raising funds for eye transplants and research, at the forefront of everyone’s minds. Senator Stephen Oelrich received the 2011 Light of Sight Award, who’s son Nick passed away in 1995, and seven people received the gift of life through his organ donation. Carolyn Glaspy, mother of Cincinnati Bengals player Chris Henry who passed away in a car accident, shared the story of how her son’s organs changed the lives of many individuals. Emcees Lisa Butler and Ernie Sampera livened up the night and encouraged guests to donate to the foundation and have a great time. Overall the ‘vision’ of the night, was a success.
The second annual Halfway to Winefest presented by SideBern’s and Bern’s Steakhouse, has become a fall favorite amongst the social scene. Vinny Lecavalier is known to be a charitable leader in the community, and hosts the event in an effort to raise funds for the All Children’s Hospital in St. Pete. The night featured a wine and spirits tasting led by Bern’s legendary sommelier staff and was complemented by the all time culinary favorites of SideBern’s Executive Chef Chad Johnson. Guests included; Nate Thompson, Matt Gilroy, Lighting Team members, and foundation founding partners Caitlyn Govoni, and David Laxer. Winefest will be April 20-23, 2012.
The Landnon Outreach Foundation was founded by Dr. Bruce N. Landon and is passionately committed to assisting individuals and families in need, through; financial assistance, community service and food distribution in the local community as well as globally. This year Cheryl Landon, director of the foundation hosted its second annual Chill Night at the Trinity Professional Center, and created a cool South Beach style lounge. Guests enjoyed a taco bar by Zim Zari, a Sushi Bar by Grille 54, a Pasta Bar by Madison Square, and a salad & dessert Bar by Catering by Kathy. There was also live music by the Black Honkeys, a bathing suit fashion show by Lending Luxury, cigar lounge, a live & silent auction, and special guest emcee Jenn Holloway, former Bay News 9 anchor. Also chilling were Julian Exclusa, Beth Ann Drake, and former Buccaneer Ricky Reynolds.
