Holy Event Season Batman!
Your Robin and party crime fighter (ok, goer) is to the rescue. It has been busy around Tampa Bay and the Metro team has been out and about. B Scene of course was feeling animal passions for golf and real animals by lurking in the VIP area of the Billabong club at the Outback Pro-Am and Aussie Bash, and then sauntering over to the Bwana Patrons Party and Fashion Show at Saks Fifth Avenue for Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo.
The Zoo’s annual black tie gala, Karamu, kicked off with the famous Bwana Party and a Brazilian theme. Karamu Chair Kelly Feldman and Bwana Chairs Stephanie Steele and Robin Roberts welcomed the Bwanas at the lovely home of Scott and Mariela Shear where guests enjoyed delicious food and drinks provided by the Grand Hyatt. Everyone danced the night away to great Brazilian music supplied by Philip Orsino of Ceviche. Prior, Saks Fifth Avenue hosted an intimate fashion show at the store to showcase Fashions for Karamu. Featuring evening gowns, dresses, and shoes, Saks stylist Denise Richardson did not disappoint with the fun color on the runway. Karamu committee member Lynne Thompson, was one of the models strutting the “catwalk” for zoo fans including Karessa Montgomery, Herbert & Lillian Feldman, Altony Lee and Tricia Berk.
It’s no secret. I LOVE golf. So, when Elissa Dooman of the Outback Pro-Am suggested I cover some events for B Scene, in a very B Scene way, i.e. VIP style, I said, “Where do I sign up?” From Michael J. Fox to George Lopez, Mark “Marky Mark” Walberg, Emmitt Smith and Jerry Rice, there were no shortage of celebrity sightings out at The Players Club of Tampa Bay. As a huge Redskins fan, Joe Theismann was the highlight of the week for me. The Aussie Bash, pre-pro-AM was “bloody fabulous” with a lot of Hornitos Tequila flowing and Montgomery Gentry taking the stage. Tracie Domino, super volunteer of the evening, and her sister Allison, were aiding in the celebrity spotting.
I don’t know about you B Scenesters, but if it has Club or Suite as a suffix or prefix and it is a sporting event, I will never turn down the invite. Open bar is helpful too, I won’t lie. Hence, I found myself, along with many other fabulous peeps such as Mary Jane & Ron Campbell, Jen Holloway, JP Peterson, Lisa Semeyn, Robin & Jason Vosler, Tonya Nuhfer and Stephanie Goins.
Check out all that’s going on online at www.tampabaymetro.com. Soon we will be adding a Twitter and Facebook fan page for B Scene. For now, check out @rsbpevents for the latest tweets. We do the Metro roundup for the weekend every Thursday at 4:30 on JP’s Happy Hour on Sports Radio 1010.
Now get out there and B Scene!
