From Seinfeld and Dancing with the Stars, actor John O Hurley will head the cast of Chicago when it rolls into town at The Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center from June 27 - July 2. Metro had a chance to chat with OHurley between broadway shows. Chicago is OHurleys Broadway debut and it fits like a glove, said OHurley. Broadway is the 10 most exciting blocks in New York from 7:30 - 11:00p.m., adds OHurley.
OHurley is looking forward to returning to Florida and the Tampa Bay area. OHurley graduated from high school in Fort Lauderdale and his grandmother lived in Gulfport in the 60s. As an avid golfer, the area is perfect for golf and OHurley said, I bring my clubs and my wifes clubs everywhere we go.
After being so well known on the small screen as Peterman on Seinfeld, Metro asked how he enjoys the big stage. There is a whole different energy, said OHurley. Its the present, a give and take process you can entertain...very organic. Doing TV is like a black hole, there is no sense of what you got.
OHurley plays the role of Billy Flynn - any similarities? I take elements of myself. Flynn is slick and elegant. I add the smoothness of Fred Astaire, said OHurley.
